President-elect Donald Trump said he had a “very good experience” with TikTok as the countdown continues for the Supreme Court’s ruling on the social media app.

“We won young people and I think that’s a big credit to TikTok, so I’m not opposed to TikTok,” Mr. Trump said on Newsmax Monday. “Let’s see what happens. I really have to wait to see what happens at the Supreme Court because nobody knows what they can do and who’s gonna do it until they hear from the Supreme Court.”

“They’re gonna be making a ruling pretty soon,” he said. “But I had a very good experience with TikTok.”

The Supreme Court will decide soon. President Biden signed the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act in April that called for Chinese-owned ByteDance to sell the app by Jan. 19 or be banned in the U.S.

ByteDance has argued that the law violates First Amendment rights.

However, after hearing arguments from ByteDance on Friday, the high court seemed inclined to side with the law that stems from potential national security risks due to the app’s ties with China.

Mr. Trump has flip-flopped on this issue after backing a TikTok ban in his first term. A federal judge at the time blocked the attempt, calling it “arbitrary and capricious.”

Now on the eve of his second term, he told Newsmax, “I was on TikTok, I had TikTok Jack working for me, he was a young guy, 21 years old, he was great, and we won young people.”

Last month, Mr. Trump urged the high court to delay the app’s ban so his new administration could find a “political resolution.”
