President Trump has implemented a One Flag Policy for American outposts, meaning only the Stars and Stripes can be flown at the buildings.
The order was issued by new Secretary of State Marco Rubio and stops American outposts in the states and abroad from flying flags associated with LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
“Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in U.S. government content,” the order says. “The flag of the United States of America united all Americans under the universal principles of justice, liberty and democracy. These values, which are the bedrock of our great country, are shared by all American citizens, past and present.”
Employees from the State Department who go against the policy “face disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract, or reassignment to their home agency.”
Mr. Trump signed an American First Policy Directive to the Secretary of State on Monday that said Mr. Rubio “shall issue guidance bringing the Department of State’s policies, programs, personnel and operations in line with an America First foreign policy, which puts America and its interests first.”
The president also signed an executive action that does away with governmental diversity, equity and inclusion. He directed that all employees in DEI positions be placed on paid leave by 5 p.m. Wednesday as the offices start closing.
It also instructs the deletion of all websites and social media accounts associated with those offices.
