President-elect Donald Trump made known that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will have no positions in his second administration.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” he posted Saturday on Truth Social.
“I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he posted.
Ms. Haley, former governor of South Carolina, served as a U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Mr. Trump. She ran against him in the Republican presidential primaries earlier this year and was a harsh critic of him.
“I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years,” Ms. Haley posted Saturday on X after Mr. Trump’s post.
Mr. Pompeo served as director of the CIA under Mr. Trump before becoming secretary of state. He had hinted before that he would be open to a spot in the administration if Mr. Trump presented it to him.
Mr. Trump has been quick to announce who will serve with him and who will not. He has said the co-chair of his campaign, Susie Wiles, will be his chief of staff. Former Georgia Sen. Kelly Loefler will serve on Trump’s inaugural committee with Steve Witkoff.
