There will be no Veep Vivek.
Former President Donald Trump has reportedly ruled out businessman and erstwhile primary rival Vivek Ramaswamy as a potential running mate.
The New York Post, citing “a source familiar with the conversation” reported Tuesday that Mr. Ramaswamy would still be under consideration for a Cabinet post, particularly Homeland Security secretary, if the presumptive Republican presidential nominee should win the general election.
Mr. Ramaswamy, who dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses and quickly became one of Mr. Trump’s most vigorous surrogates, has been on “short lists” and name drops that Mr. Trump has teased.
A Ramaswamy spokesperson said he is focused on winning in November, regardless of whether he is the No. 2.
“There’s a lot of press speculation, but I can tell you Vivek’s top focus is making sure we get President Trump elected so that we can take America First to the next level,” Tricia McLaughlin told the Post.
“This country would be lucky to have him serve in the next administration and beyond,” she added.
