The administration has ousted the head of the government’s deportation force, according to a new report that said President Trump was upset with the slow pace of deportations.
Caleb Vitello had been overseeing operations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for several weeks.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Mr. Vitello was being reassigned.
Mr. Trump had promised a wave of deportation, but early data suggests that the pace has actually slackened compared to the final months under President Biden.
Mexico, for example, reported this week that repatriations from the U.S. had dropped.
