Former President Donald Trump is running fundraising circles around his closest rival for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
The Trump campaign said it raised $45.5 million over the last three months, and that it has $37.5 million cash on hand.
The announcement came shortly after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential bid announced he had raked in $15 million over that same period of time through a combination of his campaign committee, leadership PAC, and joint fundraising committee.
The DeSantis campaign touted the haul as proof that his “comeback candidacy” is surging.
The Trump campaign, however, cast doubt on the strength of the DeSantis bid by highlighting a New York Times report that said he was left with just $5 million in the bank for the primary race.
Team Trump said the former president’s third-quarter fundraising haul is a “testament to the overwhelming grassroots support” for his bid.
