President Trump on Wednesday declined to commit to meeting with Gov. Gavin Newsom during his upcoming trip to California.
“I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
On Friday Mr. Trump will travel to California to survey the damage caused by the Los Angeles wildfires.
Mr. Trump has blasted Mr. Newsom over his handling of the fires, which have ravaged Southern California.
In a Truth Social post, Mr. Trump referred to Mr. Newsom and other Democrats as “incompetent pols [who] have no idea how to put them out.”
“They just can’t put out fires. What’s wrong with them?” he asked.
Earlier this week, Mr. Trump said that the political careers of Mr. Newsom and other Democratic politicians in California are done as a result of the fires.
“I think they are dead politically, what they’ve done,” Mr. Trump said. “They’ve destroyed the city. What they’ve done to the city is unbelievable.”
