Former President Donald Trump is on the fast road to securing the Republican presidential nomination over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as 15 states and one territory voted in elections on Super Tuesday.
Mr. Trump grabbed his first win of the night in Virginia, beating Ms. Haley by nearly 30 percentage points.
Mr. Trump has won every primary and caucus ahead of Super Tuesday except for Washington which Ms. Haley won with 62.8% of the vote.
The former president entered Tuesday’s race with 276 delegates to Ms. Haley’s 43. There are 865 delegates available on Tuesday. Even with the former president’s lead, he cannot mathematically grab enough delegates to clinch the majority.
The states that hold the most amount of delegates up for grabs are California and Texas. Mr. Trump is expected to win both those states.
