President-elect Donald Trump has emerged as the clear favorite to win the Time Person of the Year award.

According to Online Betting Guide, Mr. Trump is a shoo-in to win, with ⅕ odds and a probability of 83.3%.

He is followed by doctors, nurses, first responders and health workers who see a probability of winning of 66.7%, Vice President Kamala Harris with a probability of 12.5%, Yulia Navalnaya, the wife of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has a probability of 10% and former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases chief Dr. Anthony Fauci, who also sees 10%.

The process of picking the next person of the year isn’t an easy one — editors from the magazine scour headlines to see who dominated the news and influenced people’s lives over the previous 12 months, either for better or worse.

Presidents are not strangers to being named the magazine’s Person of the Year. Only three former presidents — Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Gerald Ford — have not been chosen to be the face on the magazine cover.

Mr. Trump was previously selected as Person of the Year in 2016 after winning the election over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

President Biden and Ms. Harris were Person of the Year in 2020, while they were only president-elect and vice president-elect, respectively. Former President Barack Obama was given the honor in 2013 and 2009.

The first president to be on the cover was Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932, and he went on to win the honor two more times after that.
