Former President Donald Trump placed his support behind retired Army Capt. Sam Brown for the Republican seat in the Nevada Senate primary race.

“Sam Brown is a FEARLESS AMERICAN PATRIOT, a Purple Heart Recipient, who has proven he has the ‘PURE GRIT’ and COURAGE to take on our Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic,” Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Sunday.

Mr. Brown is up against other known Republicans, including Mr. Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Iceland Jeff Gunter and former state Assemblyman Jim Marchant, both of whom have said they are pro-Trump.

“I have gotten to know Sam and his beautiful wife, Amy, a U.S. Army First Lieutenant, and I know in this next chapter of their Life of Service together, they will continue to make us all proud,” Mr. Trump said in another post. “Sam has already proven his Love for our Country, being horrifically wounded, and making the Comeback of a Lifetime. Sam Brown has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Mr. Brown is largely seen as the front-runner in the race. The GOP primary is Tuesday, and the winner will face the Democrats’ incumbent senator, Jacky Rosen, in November.

Mr. Brown applauded the backing Sunday night.

“Thank you, President Trump, for your leadership. I’m honored to have your endorsement,” he wrote on X. “I look forward to working with you to bring a better future to every Nevadan and American when we both win in November!!”

Ms. Rosen railed against Mr. Brown after the endorsement, labeling him as her “extreme MAGA opponent.”

“His agenda of banning abortion, gutting health care and slashing Social Security is wrong for Nevada,” she wrote on X.
