NextImg:Trump calls for renewed Keystone XL Pipeline project

President Trump is calling for the revival of the Keystone XL Pipeline, urging an “immediate start.”

The original project planned was nixed after then-President Biden pulled the plug on the permit to build the pipeline, which would have delivered crude oil from western Canada to refineries in the U.S.

“Our Country’s doing really well, and today, I was just thinking, that the company building the Keystone XL Pipeline that was viciously jettisoned by the incompetent Biden Administration should come back to America, and get it built — NOW!” Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday evening.

“I know they were treated very badly by Sleepy Joe Biden, but the Trump Administration is very different — Easy approvals, almost immediate start!” he wrote. “If not them, perhaps another Pipeline Company. We want the Keystone XL Pipeline built!”

Construction of the pipeline started during Mr. Trump’s first administration, but once Mr. Biden took office in 2021 it was stopped.

Critics of the pipeline worried about the effects on the environment, including potential oil spills, greenhouse gas emissions and habitat destruction.

TC Energy, the then-operator of the pipeline, said at the time that it would work “to ensure a safe termination of and exit” from the partially built pipeline.
