President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. has approved the extradition to India of Tahawwur Rana, who is accused of helping carry out a 2008 terror attack that killed 175 people over a series of four days in Mumbai, India.

“We’re giving a very violent man, it seems to me … back to India immediately and there are more to follow,” Mr. Trump said at a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr. Trump said the U.S. has received “quite a few requests” for extradition from India.

“We will work with India on crime and we want to make it very good for India,” he said. “It’s very important.”

In 2011, Mr. Rana was convicted of providing support to an Islamist terror group and plotting an attack on a Danish newspaper. He was convicted in Chicago for his role in the 2008 Mumbai Massacre and in 2023, his request to block extradition was denied, leaving his only remaining legal venue the Supreme Court. The justices dismissed his request last month.

The November 2009 attack occurred when Pakistani terror squads invaded Mumbai and took over the city for days. When the commando-style attack was finally snuffed out, 175 people were dead, including six Americans. India still views the attack as its 9/11.
