Former President Trump’s former senior adviser Steve Bannon must turn himself in to prison by July 1 for his contempt of Congress conviction after defying a congressional subpoena over the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, ordered Mr. Bannon on Thursday to surrender to prison to serve a four-month sentence for defying the subpoena after an appeals court upheld his conviction. But the judge said the onetime senior White House aide could request a stay of the judge’s order, suggesting the jail surrender could be delayed.

Mr. Bannon was convicted in 2022 for declining to appear for a deposition with the House Jan. 6 committee probing the Capitol riot, and refusing to provide documents related to challenging the 2020 election results.

Peter Navarro, who served as former director of Mr. Trump’s National Trade Council, already began serving time in prison over the same conviction.

He appealed to the Supreme Court to review his case and keep him from jail time while the appeal is pending, but the high court did not agree.

Mr. Bannon’s attorney clashed with the judge in court Thursday and the ex-Trump confidant struck a defiant note after the session ended, according to CNBC.

“I’ve got great lawyers, and we’re going to go all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to,” Mr. Bannon told reporters. “There’s nothing that can shut me up and nothing that will shut me up. There’s not a prison built or a jail built that will ever shut me up.”
