TikTok returned to Apple and Google’s app stores on Thursday evening, making it available for download to American users for the first time since the Big Tech giants removed it last month to comply with U.S. law.

“The TikTok app is now available for download from the App Store and Google Play,” TikTok said in a statement. “Our U.S. users can download the latest version of our app and continue to create, discover, and share what they love on TikTok.”

Apple and Google’s decision to allow the app back into their marketplaces comes amid President Trump’s efforts to delay enforcement of the ban. Hours after assuming office, Mr. Trump took action designed to delay the ban from taking effect while he looked to help broker a new ownership structure.

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a conditional ban of TikTok last month, maintaining a law passed by Congress and signed by President Biden that forced the platform to separate itself from its Chinese ownership or face restrictions.

TikTok has not broken away from its Chinese owner ByteDance and has looked to Mr. Trump for support. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew was one of a select few who scored a seat inside Mr. Trump’s indoor inauguration, where he attended alongside Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
