A woman is accused of dosing chocolates with fentanyl in Parker County, Texas, and sending the candy to her ex-husband in the hopes of killing him.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, told an acquaintance that she wanted to get powdered fentanyl and put it into chocolate.

The second part of the alleged plan, PCSO said, involved Ms. Stanley sending the chocolates to her ex-husband, but making it look like the candy was from a travel agency sending him an engagement gift and incentive offer for his honeymoon trip.

Ms. Stanley, the sheriff’s office said, drove several hours away from Coleman, Texas, thinking she was about to buy the fentanyl. She is alleged to have attempted to make the purchase of the drug from people who turned out to be PCSO undercover detectives.

She was immediately taken into custody. In addition, during a May 30 search of her car, PCSO investigators also found 9.5 grams of methamphetamine on her person, according to Dallas’ KXAS-TV.

Ms. Stanley was indicted last Thursday on charges of criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, PCSO said.

The target of Ms. Stanley’s alleged plot, Jeff Kauth, told Dallas’ WFAA-TV that “Her plan was pretty ingenious. She thought this stuff through. … It didn’t really surprise me because she’s kind of that way. … I’ll never look at a box of chocolates the same.”

Mr. Kauth claimed that Ms. Stanley has remained angry at him since their 2019 divorce, telling KXAS-TV that, “She has made lots of texts, numerous texts and threatening situations … I’m so happy that they’ve got her behind bars.”
