Tesla is recalling 9,136 of its Model X sports utility vehicles after discovering an issue with the roof trim that could cause car parts to separate.

According to a Tuesday National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing, some of the Model X’s cosmetic roof trim was applied without primer. This means some or all of the trim could separate from the vehicle.

The NHTSA said the issue could worsen over time, increasing the risk of collisions. The agency said Tesla would inform Model X owners of the issue and would replace or repair trim pieces if necessary.

Tesla has recalled over 2.6 million vehicles in the first half of the year, already more than the company recalled in all of 2023. Tuesday’s roof trim recall is a rarity for the electric vehicle giant, which typically issues software recalls that can be remedied remotely.

The company’s Cybertruck has faced several physical recalls this year, including one affecting its accelerator pedal and windshield wiper.
