Electric vehicle giant Tesla is offering discounts on auto insurance to customers who use the company’s Full Self-Driving feature.

According to Tesla’s website, the offer is valid for customers who subscribe to FSD and who agree to let the company collect data on their driving habits. Tesla will use customers’ total miles driven using FSD to calculate their next month’s premium.

The offer is available to Tesla customers in Texas and Arizona.

The company said customers who use FSD more often will have a chance at snagging a larger discount.

“The more you drive with FSD (Supervised) enabled, the bigger the discount is on your insurance premium for certain coverages on your Tesla insurance policy,” Tesla wrote in a statement. “You can earn up to a 10% discount on those coverages when you drive 50% or more of your miles with FSD.”

The discount is a unique way for Tesla to collect user data and drive the implementation of its FSD software. The data will likely improve the company’s autonomous driving software in preparation for the launch of its robotaxi initiative.

The initiative also comes as Tesla’s FSD system is under intense scrutiny from consumers and federal regulators. The system, marketed as a driver assistance program, has been linked to several deadly collisions on U.S. roads over the past four years, leading the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to open an investigation into the technology last year.
