A Tesla Cybertruck burst into flames and exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas Wednesday, killing one person inside and injuring seven bystanders.

The car caught fire and then exploded right outside the entrance to the hotel at around 8:41 a.m. local time, according to the Clark County Fire Department PulsePoint map.

The deceased was inside the Cybertruck at the time of the incident. Authorities have not yet identified them, nor have they figured out whether they were a man or a woman, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The fire had been put out by 9:43 a.m., with LVMPD asking people to avoid the area in a post on X.

Sheriff McMahill said that there did not appear to be any further threat to the public, but said authorities would be taking necessary precautions in light of the truck attack in New Orleans earlier on Wednesday.

“We’re very well aware of what has happened in New Orleans … So as you can imagine, with an explosion here on iconic Las Vegas Boulevard, we are taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep our community safe,” Sheriff McMahill said at a news conference according to USA Today.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. An unnamed official briefed on the probe into the blast told ABC News that there were “fireworks-style mortars” inside the car.

Fashion Show Drive, where the hotel is located, is closed in both directions between Sammy Davis Jr. Drive to Las Vegas Boulevard, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada posted on X.

The hotel is partially owned by the namesake Trump Organization.

“Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the [covered entrance] of Trump Las Vegas. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority,” Trump Organization Executive Vice President Eric Trump, son of President-elect Donald Trump, said in a post on social media.

Guests at the Trump hotel have been relocated to Resorts World Las Vegas, which sits on Las Vegas Boulevard, according to Las Vegas CBS affiliate KTNV-TV.
