President Biden will host the 2023 WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces next month, after being criticized for not inviting them when they won the 2022 championship.

After being criticized for the 2022 snub, Mr. Biden invited the team to the White House but didn’t attend the ceremony.

This time, the Aces will visit the White House on May 9 to celebrate their victory in the WNBA finals, which they won in a 3-1 series over the New York Liberty in October.

The team made its celebratory trek to the White House last August, after winning the 2022 WNBA championship. Mr. Biden, however, opted to extend his vacation rather than greet the team.

A previous announcement said that Mr. Biden and first lady Jill Biden would be there to greet the team at last year’s event, but instead, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff greeted the Aces.

The Bidens were vacationing in Lake Tahoe last August and were supposed to return the day before the event, but they changed their plans.

The Biden brush-off came after Aces star A’ja Wilson called out Mr. Biden for inviting the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights to the White House to celebrate their Stanley Cup victory while ignoring the Aces‘ victory.

Ms. Wilson slammed the president for the lack of recognition.

“When is our White House visit?” she wrote on X, adding a disparaging remark in response to Mr. Biden‘s tweet.
