A person was apprehended at a Loveland, Colorado, Tesla dealership this week after police found the Lyons-area resident with incendiary devices. She is also accused of previously attacking and vandalizing the same dealership.
Lucy Grace Nelson, 40, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, was apprehended at the Loveland Tesla dealership on Monday.
Authorities started investigating prior incidents of vandalism and use of incendiary devices at the dealership in late January and caught Ms. Nelson with vandalism tools and more incendiary devices, the Loveland Police Department said in a release Wednesday.
No further damage occurred Monday because Ms. Nelson was stopped before she could do anything that night.
Court documents detailed that, in the alleged prior incidents, she had thrown Molotov cocktails at cars at the dealership and had painted graffiti reading “Nazi cars” and messages attacking Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to The Associated Press.
Six incidents have hit the dealership since Jan. 29. Ms. Nelson is thought to be the suspect in all but one on Feb. 18.
Ms. Nelson is charged with use of explosives or incendiary devices during a felony, criminal mischief causing $2,000 to $5,000 in damage at a business and criminal attempt to commit another felony, LPD said.
The police also said they’re working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Denver Field Division and that federal charges against Ms. Nelson could follow.
