Los Angeles police arrested the son of a top Hollywood agent on murder charges last week after authorities said they found his wife’s dismembered remains in a dumpster.

Samuel Haskell Jr., 35, was booked on suspicion of murder Wednesday in connection to the disappearance of his spouse, Mei Li Haskell, 37.

Mrs. Haskell’s parents — mother Yanxiang Wang, 64, and father Gaoshan Li, 71 — were reported missing in the past week.

Police were led to Mr. Haskell after a homeless man discovered a female torso stuffed in a duffel bag in the trash near an Encino strip mall.

Authorities connected the remains to Mr. Haskell’s home roughly five miles away in Tarzana after examining surveillance footage. Police said forensics have yet to confirm the remains are those of Mrs. Haskell.

KNBC spoke with day laborers who said they were paid $500 by Mr. Haskell to haul away the remains.

Mr. Haskell told the men the three trash bags were full of rocks, but the laborers said the bags were soft and soggy, and weighed about 50 pounds each.

The workers said they eventually inspected the bags a few blocks away from the suspect’s home and made the grisly discovery.

“I started seeing body parts, a belly button,” one worker, who asked not to be identified, told KNBC in Spanish. “I was astonished. Of course, I felt bad. We had been tricked.”

The workers said they went back to Mr. Haskell’s home to return the money and the bags.

Mr. Haskell tried to explain the remains away as being Halloween props, the laborers said, but they told him they didn’t want to be involved anymore.

The men then tried to report their discovery to two different police stations but had no luck, according to KNBC.

The couple’s three children were in school when Mr. Haskell was arrested Wednesday. Police said they’re being cared for by family members.

Mr. Haskell was previously arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon in December 2008. He received three years probation in 2010 after pleading no contest to battery.

The suspect is the son of Sam Haskell, who used to represent entertainers such as George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg and Dolly Parton at the William Morris Agency.
