Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was feeling grateful on Thursday when he was named the NFL MVP for the first time in his career. He thanked his fiancee, actress Hailee Steinfeld, his teammates and his coaches.
But he also shouted out a mailroom employee: “Slick Rick” Morrow.
“When he mentioned my name, I just broke down,” Morrow told Buffalo’s WKBW TV station. “I broke down because I’m just an average person, but when he mentioned my name, I was like, ’Oh my God, he just mentioned my name on national television.’ So, I was just crying.”
Morrow, who is in his 60s, has worked for the Bills for about 15 years. The “Slick Rick” nickname dates back to former quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. But nothing compared to healing his alias during the NFL Honors.
“It’s still like a dream,” Morrow said. “Even though I work here, I don’t like this publicity; I’m just down-to-earth.”
