A single-engine plane struck a home in Van Zandt County, Texas, on Tuesday, killing the pilot.
The plane flew into the side of the house at 6 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety told Dallas NBC affiliate KXAS-TV.
The house is near Thompson Tailwind Airpark in Edgewood, 60 miles east of Dallas. DPS Sgt. Adam Albritton told Tyler ABC station KLTV that the pilot, coming in from Addison, was aiming to land at the airport, missing the landing spot by 300 to 400 feet.
The unnamed pilot was the only person aboard the Cirrus SR22 plane, Texas DPS said.
The house was unoccupied, and no other injuries were reported on the ground. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
