Sen. Katie Britt, the Alabama Republican who gave the official response to President Biden‘s State of the Union address last week, fired back Sunday at Democrats and pundits who ridiculed her for giving remarks from her kitchen.

“Republicans care about kitchen table issues,” she said on “Fox News Sunday.” “We care about faith, family and freedom. We are the ones talking about the economy and the real effects of that.”

Mrs. Britt‘s delivery has since been knocked by “Saturday Night Live,” and she received awkward praise from fellow Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who said she was “picked as a housewife, not just a senator.”

She also offered an explanation to the human trafficking case she referenced to slam President Biden‘s handling of the southern border, a case that happened 20 years ago in Mexico.

Mrs. Britt accused Mr. Biden of having “invited” the border crisis with his policies.

“I very specifically said this is what President Biden did during his first 100 days,” she said.
