Sen. John Fetterman, Pennsylvania Democrat, was in a car crash in Maryland over the weekend when he was found to be “at fault” and driving “well over” the speed limit, according to an official police report.

The accident took place on I-70, where Mr. Fetterman was driving his Chevrolet Traverse over the posted 70 mph limit. The information was confirmed by a witness, as stated by the Maryland State Police. The senator’s vehicle rear-ended a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 62-year-old woman.

A six-page police report obtained by USA Today confirmed that Mr. Fetterman was “at fault” for the accident. There were no tests conducted for drugs or alcohol on either him or the Impala’s driver.

The report also noted that while it remains “unknown” if Mr. Fetterman was distracted during the incident, the driver of the Impala was confirmed to be “not distracted.”

Mr. Fetterman, 54, was accompanied by his wife, Gisele, at the time of the Sunday morning crash. Both were briefly hospitalized, as was the 62-year-old driver. Mr. Fetterman was treated for a bruised shoulder and was discharged along with Gisele. “They are doing well,” a spokesperson for the senator told The Independent.
