A Houston auto dealership will have to pay as much as $350,000 in repairs after stray dogs ripped bumpers and fenders off at least five cars this month.
Staffers at G Motors were initially unsure what was responsible for the wrecked cars in three incidents from Nov. 6-18. At least they could spot scratches and bite marks on the autos.
“We thought what’s happening, it might be a wolf,” Imran Haq, finance manager for G Motors, told KHOU, Houston’s CBS affiliate.
Security footage revealed that two stray dogs were the culprits.
“You just never think a dog has the kind of power to tear up a car like that,” Gaby Fakhoury, sales manager at G Motors, told ABC station KTRK-TV.
The damages will cost the dealership anywhere from $100,000 to $350,000, Mr. Fakhoury added.
While the dealership went to police for help, the incidents are considered a civil matter. Law enforcement would get involved only if the dogs attacked someone.
