The maker of Robitussin cough syrup voluntarily recalled eight lots of three honey-infused Robitussin products Wednesday because of the possibility of microbial contamination.

The syrup could cause users to suffer life-threatening fungal infection in their blood and other parts of the body, the Food and Drug Administration said while posting manufacturer Haleon‘s announcement on its website.

Haleon hasn’t received any reports of adverse reactions from contaminated Robitussin, the FDA added.

The three products in question, Robitussin Honey CF Max Day in 4 and 8 ounces and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime in 8 ounces, contain real honey and are meant for consumption by adults.

The FDA didn’t say how the lots of cough syrup were contaminated or how many units are subject to the recall.

Haleon has notified distributors about the recall and asked consumers to stop taking the affected Robitussin products immediately.
