Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is looking at some very unconventional running mates.

The independent presidential candidate said Tuesday that NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former professional wrestler Jesse Ventura are at the top of his vice-presidential list.

Both men have responded positively to Mr. Kennedy’s overtures, the New York Times reported, citing “two people familiar with the discussions.”

The candidate himself later confirmed the Times account in a text sent to ABC News.

While “The Body” retired from wrestling many years ago and got himself elected governor of Minnesota in the late-1990s, Mr. Rodgers is still under contract to the New York Jets and is expected to be their starting quarterback this fall.

According to The Times, Mr. Kennedy is looking at other choices and hasn’t formally offered the slot to Mr. Ventura or Mr. Rodgers.
