NextImg:Report: NYPD preparing to revoke Trump’s concealed-carry permit

Donald Trump soon won’t be able to carry the gun needed to shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue.

According to a CNN report, the New York Police Department has begun stripping the former president of the concealed-carry permit he once had.

Citing “a senior police official,” CNN reported that Mr. Trump’s concealed-carry license was suspended on April 1, 2023, when he was indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on charges of falsifying business records.

Two of the three guns he had a license to carry were turned over to the NYPD and a third “lawfully moved to Florida,” the source told CNN.

Now that Mr. Trump has been convicted on felony charges, the NYPD’s Legal Bureau will soon finish an investigation “that will likely lead to revocation of his license,” the senior police official said.

Mr. Trump, who once bragged that his support was so firm that “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” could challenge such a revocation.

Because possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a federal crime, that third gun in Florida could put Mr. Trump in further legal jeopardy, CNN reported.

Based on “multiple law enforcement sources,” the network reported that Mr. Trump has had the license for more than a decade but, because he was a public figure, was able to request confidentiality.

Mr. Trump still has full-time U.S. Secret Service protection by right as a former president.
