The man who exploded a Tesla Cybertruck in front of a Trump hotel in Las Vegas had reportedly been dumped by his wife days prior.

The New York Post reported Thursday evening, citing “two sources familiar with the investigation,” that Matthew Livelsberger had left his Colorado Springs home on Dec. 26 after an argument with his wife over infidelity.

“His wife — who had a baby daughter with Livelsberger — reportedly told him that she knew he had been cheating,” the Post wrote.

The development has investigators considering, according to the Post, that the 37-year-old Green Beret was a man with a private suicidal urge.

It was first believed in the hours after the Wednesday explosion that the attack might be the work of a terrorist or a man making a political statement against President-elect Donald Trump and/or Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

“This is a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump Tower,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Sheriff Kevin McMahill said then. “So there’s obviously things to be concerned about and it’s something we continue to look at.”

After he left Colorado, Mr. Livelsberger used the Turo app to rent a Cybertruck, which he parked in front of the Trump International Hotel on New Year’s morning. He then mortar fireworks stashed in the trunk and fatally shot himself.

Seven people suffered minor injuries in the blast but the hotel was undamaged, even the glass doors a few feet away, because the design of the Cybertruck contained the explosive energy.
