NextImg:Report: Donald Trump Jr. headed to Greenland after father calls U.S. ownership ‘absolute necessity’

Weeks after President-elect Donald Trump called the U.S. acquisition of Greenland an “absolute necessity,” his son is planning to visit the island.

Strictly recreationally, he says.

According to a report Monday in The Hill, Donald Trump Jr. is planning a trip to the massive Danish-owned island off the coast of North America.

Citing “a source familiar with the plan,” The Hill reported that the once and future presidential son plans “a quick daylong trip to shoot some fun video content for podcasting.”

There was no immediate report on the date, and, according to The Hill, the younger Mr. Trump plans no meeting with Danish or Greenlandic government or political officials.

Still, the visit comes a few weeks after the elder Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social, in the context of announcing Ken Howery as his pick for ambassador to Denmark, that “the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.”

It also wasn’t the first time he’d broached the subject.

Officials with both Denmark’s national government and Greenland’s local government have insisted the island is not for sale to the U.S. or anyone else, though Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede has since called for the autonomous territory of fewer than 60,000 people to become independent.
