Democrats will hold on to the open Senate seat in Michigan after Rep. Elissa Slotkin narrowly won the race to replace retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

Ms. Slotkin led by just over 18,000 votes, or less than half a percentage point, over Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers when The Associated Press called the race Wednesday afternoon.

She campaigned on Democrats’ legislative achievements, including measures to lower prescription drug costs and bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S.

Ms. Slotkin has served in the House for three terms and was a CIA analyst. She also worked in White House national security roles during the Bush and Obama administrations.
