Rep. Jamaal Bowman bashed former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for writing “finish them” on Israeli bombs while she visited the U.S. ally this week.
“Nikki Haley is disgusting. She’s a disgusting human being to do that,” Mr. Bowman said on CNN Wednesday. “That’s genocidal language, and it’s the language that has the American people turning against our government.”
A photograph of Ms. Haley writing on the bomb was shared Tuesday by Danny Danon, a former Israeli representative to the United Nations.
“Why do we continue to support not just the consistent attacks in Gaza, but the forever wars?” Mr. Bowman, New York Democrat, said. “There are people in our country, their entire lives, me included, it seems like we’re constantly at war with someone spending trillions, killing millions, while people are suffering and starving and dying right here in our country.”
His comments come as criticism of Israel’s attack in Rafah has grown. An airstrike over the weekend that set fire to a camp killed at least 45 people.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday it was a “tragic mishap.”
A senior U.S. official told Politico anonymously Tuesday that the strike on Rafah didn’t cross President Biden’s “red line,” even though this month he said he would halt shipments of weapons to Israel if it entered Rafah.
Ms. Haley, the ex-governor of South Carolina who lost in the GOP presidential primaries this year, toured the south of Israel, including the site of the music festival that was raided by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7. She also toured kibbutzim and spoke with victims of the attack.
“Israel did not start this war — Hamas did. Families in southern Israel woke on October 7, as 3,000 Hamas fighters brutalized Israelis. Thousands of Palestinian civilians followed joining in the destruction, looting and violence,” she wrote in a Wednesday X post.
“When Hamas promises they will do it again, Israel should believe them. Israel must do whatever is necessary to protect her people from evil. Americans must remember that when Iran and Hamas chant ‘Death to Israel’ they also promise ‘Death to America.’ Israel is fighting America’s enemies,” she added.
