Officials have revealed that two employees at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport have been arrested and charged with leaking to CNN surveillance footage of last week’s deadly collision of a commercial jet and an Army helicopter.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said Jonathan Savoy, 45, of Upper Marlboro; and Mohamed Lamine Mbengue, 21, of Rockville, were accused of computer trespass in Virginia for allegedly distributing video of the crash that left 67 people dead.

Mr. Savoy was charged Sunday, and Mr. Mbengue was charged Friday, officials said. Both were released following initial court appearances.

Airport officials did not say how the men allegedly made the copies or if they accepted cash from CNN in exchange for sharing the clearest video yet of the nation’s worst aviation accident in a generation.

The surveillance footage captures an American Airlines flight arriving from Wichita, Kansas, colliding with an Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River on Wednesday night.

Officials said all 64 people on the American Airlines flight and the three-man crew flying the Black Hawk helicopter were killed in the crash.

Efforts to recover victims’ remains and salvage wreckage are ongoing.
