There’s something new blocking the view of the Capitol Building — a bronze turd sitting on a desk “honoring” the people who took part in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.
The bronze-colored desk sits atop a platform that is made to look like stone, but it’s really a styrofoam-type material. On the desk sits a load of dump that resembles the emoji poop symbol.
Next to the poop sits the nameplate of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat. There’s also a telephone and other objects that would typically be found on a desk.
Underneath, a plaque reads:
“This memorial honors the brave men and women who broke into the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 to loot, urinate, and defecate throughout those hallowed halls in order to overturn an election.”
“President Trump celebrates these heroes of January 6th as ‘unbelievable patriots’ and ‘warriors.’ This monument stands as a testament to their daring sacrifice and lasting legacy.”
Reportedly, a group called Civic Crafting is responsible for creation. They have a permit, and the installation can be seen for seven days. It was put up on Thursday.
A private security guard sitting in a car nearby was keeping watch over the monument.
The monument facetiously honors those who broke into the Capitol building after Mr. Trump lost the 2020 election to President Biden in an effort to stop the certification of the election results.
“Hopefully, it reminds people what happened on Jan. 6 almost four years ago,” Jeff Ullman, who visited the monument twice Thursday, said.
He said it’s great timing for the piece with less than two weeks until the Nov. 5 election with former President Donald Trump on the ballot again.
“If the election doesn’t go the way that some people want it to go, then it’s going to be the same scenario,” he said. “And even if it does go that way, it’s going to be ugly.”
When asked what he thought Mrs. Pelosi thought of her name being on the desk, he said he thinks “she’s fine with it.”
Reportedly, some who entered the Capitol did leave their mark — by way of urine and feces. A source close to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, told The New York Post in 2021 that “congressional staffers saw feces in the hallways.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, New York Democrat, also reportedly said in 2021 that “there was clear desecration.”
