Police in Long Beach, California, said Saturday that an organized street fight resulted in two arrests and that a boy was shot in another incident after hordes of young people swarmed a shopping mall.
Authorities said they took a woman and a teenage girl into custody around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in connection to the brawl at The Pike Outlets.
Video obtained by stringer service OC Hawk showed the two females come together in an open area and immediately start throwing punches.
They were surrounded by dozens of young people who were recording the fight and cheering on the fighters.
Officers were seen swooping in to break up the fracas about 20 seconds after it started, according to the video.
Police said they were aware of the brawl being set up over social media and had stationed more officers in the area in anticipation.
The outlet mall said it shut down early after the chaotic scene.
Less than an hour later, police said a boy was shot in the lower body by The Promenade roughly two blocks away.
The boy, whose age wasn’t provided, was taken to a hospital. Police said he was in stable condition.
Authorities didn’t say if the boy was a spectator of the planned fight.
