Police in Texas say they stopped a pair of teenage girls who were planning a violent attack at a Houston-area school.
Neither suspect was named, but one is a student at Willis High School in Montgomery County, Texas, and the other is a student in the Spring Branch Independent School District in the greater Houston area.
The attack was to take place at the Houston-area school, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement sources told ABC News that the girls had gotten a hold of pipe bombs and guns, and that they were planning to specifically attack Memorial Senior High School, which is in the school district in Harris County.
Both of the teenagers are alleged to have made online threats related to the plot. The Willis High student is 15 years old and is now in custody in Montgomery County on unrelated charges. The other girl is 16 years old and in custody in Harris County.
The 16-year-old girl was formerly a Memorial Senior High School student who had been moved to an alternative school for struggling students. She has been charged with making terroristic threats, according to reports.
She had messages online that expressed a “generic disdain for students,” SBISD Police Chief Larry Baimbridge told the Houston Chronicle.
The two suspects “were communicating back and forth and planning,” and were specific about their plan of attack, he added.
