A single-engine plane crashed in a neighborhood in Arvada, Colorado, Friday, injuring two adults and two children who were on the aircraft.

The crash happened at 9:30 a.m., the Arvada Fire Department posted on X. The four unnamed people were hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

An image posted on X by the Arvada Police Department showed the wrecked plane and scorch marks from a doused fire on a house’s front lawn. A red truck also sustained damage.

Arvada resident Kent Murray heard the crash and “screaming that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life,” he told The Denver Post.

Another local saw the crash in his rearview mirror as he was driving through Arvada.

“I could see smoke coming out of it, and at first it looked like a crop duster to me. And then I was like, ’There’s no way; why would you be crop-dusting in Arvada?’ But obviously something was mechanically wrong with the airplane, and it was just entirely too low for it to be doing anything safe,” Evan Sherlock told Denver Fox affiliate KDVR.

The pilot put out an alert over the radio that he was having problems before the plane crashed.

Flight instructor Noah Taht, who was in the air at the time, told The Post that he heard the unnamed pilot of the crashed plane over the radio saying that the aircraft was losing oil pressure and having engine problems.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
