Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had her hip replaced in Germany after she fell during a trip with other lawmakers.

Ian Krager, a spokesman for Ms. Pelosi, said in a statement that the lawmaker had a “successful” operation on Saturday and was “well on the mend.”

“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center [in Germany] and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness,” Mr. Kagan said.

“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans,” he continued.

The California Democrat, 84, was visiting Luxembourg with a bipartisan congressional delegation to mark the 80th anniversary of World War II’s Battle of the Bulge when she was reportedly injured from a fall.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, Texas Republican, posted on X that he was “disappointed” that Ms. Pelosi wouldn’t be able to join the rest of the trip, “as I know how much she looked forward to honoring our veterans.”

“But she is strong, and I am confident she will be back on her feet in no time,” he said.
