Ex-rival Nikki Haley said Wednesday she is voting for former President Donald Trump this November.
Mrs. Haley, who was the last candidate standing against Mr. Trump in 2024 Republican presidential primary, said after a speech at the Hudson Institute that Mr. Trump “has not been perfect.”
But, she added, President Biden “has been a catastrophe.”
“So I will be voting for Trump,” said Mrs. Haley, a former South Carolina governor who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the Trump administration.
The former candidate had not publicly spoken about the presidential race and largely maintained radio silence since ending her campaign in March.
She said at the speech that Mr. Trump also should reach out to persuade the Republicans who voted for her and others in the primary that they should vote for him in the general election.
“Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that,” Mrs. Haley said.
