New York Attorney General Letitia James has reportedly begun the process of seizing his iconic forested New York estate.

The Daily Beast reported Thursday that Ms. James has effectively put a lien on his Seven Springs estate north of New York City.

The outlet cited “public records and several court clerks who spoke to The Daily Beast.”

Mr. Trump owes $464 million in a bank-fraud judgment earlier this year and has indicated that he cannot pay the judgment in cash. The former president also is having difficulty finding a surety company that will issue a bond before the March 25 deadline to pay, after which point the state can seize his assets by force.

According to the Daily Beast, Ms. James filed a judgment in Westchester County at 9:03 a.m. on March 6.

“Two employees at the clerk’s office explained that the move effectively means that the AG has placed liens on all properties that belong to Trump, Don Jr., Eric, the Trump Organization, and two of their other listed corporate entities,” the Beast wrote.

As a result, any effort by Mr. Trump to sell Seven Springs or any other property in Westchester County, a title search will reveal the judgment.
