Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday implored the Norwegian Nobel Committee to give the peace prize to President Trump for his efforts to secure peace between Israel and Hamas.

“Give @realDonaldTrump the Nobel Peace Prize — he deserves it!” Mr. Netanyahu wrote on X.

Mr. Netanyahu also posted an AI-generated image of himself hanging an oversized Nobel medal around the president’s neck. The two men are surrounded by applauding officials while confetti drops in the background. A banner reading “Peace through Strength” is positioned behind Mr. Trump.

The prime minister joined a chorus of calls that have erupted since Wednesday night, when Mr. Trump announced Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace deal to end the war in Gaza.

The prize winner will be announced Friday in Norway.

In July, Mr. Netanyahu nominated Mr. Trump for the award over his role in attacking Iran’s nuclear program during the 12-day conflict and establishing the ceasefire.

Mr. Netanyahu, during a White House visit that month, presented Mr. Trump with a nominating letter he sent to the Nobel Committee.

“He’s forging peace as we speak, one country and one region after the other,” Mr. Netanyahu said at the time.

“Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful,” Mr. Trump responded upon receiving the letter.
