Roughly one-quarter of Americans said President Biden was a “good” or “great” president, a much lower final approval rating than either of his immediate predecessors, according to a new poll.
Among Democrats, 1-in-10 described Mr. Biden as a “great president” and 4-in-10 described him as a “good” president, found the survey released Friday by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
In comparison, 36% of Americans said President-elect Donald Trump was “good” or “great” when he left office four years ago and 52% said the same thing about President Obama in 2016.
Nearly half of respondents (47%) rated Mr. Biden as a “poor” or “terrible” president. About 49% said the same thing about Mr. Trump at the end of his first administration.
The poll found that 28% of U.S. adults viewed Mr. Biden as an “average” president, higher than Mr. Trump’s 15% four years ago. Roughly 34% of independents said Mr. Biden was an “average” president while only 10% said he was “good” or “great” in the White House.
The AP survey matches a recent Gallup poll that found 54% of Americans say Mr. Biden was a “poor” or “below average” president.
