NextImg:Musk’s xAI unveils Grok-3 as tech race intensifies

Elon Musk’s generative AI company unveiled the latest version of its chatbot as the battle for artificial intelligence dominance continues.

Grok-3, the latest version of xAI’s chatbot, is available for X Premium+ subscribers immediately, with the tech also accessible on the Grok website and mobile app.

The new version of the app offers a smart search engine feature with data analysis. The feature, dubbed DeepSearch, was demonstrated on a live stream this week.

“Grok-3 across the board is in a league of its own,” Mr. Musk said during the livestream Monday. ”The mission of xAI and Grok is to understand the universe. We want to answer the biggest questions: Where are the aliens? What’s the meaning of life? How does the universe end? To do that, we must rigorously pursue truth.”

Mr. Musk also said xAi will continue its commitment to open-source AI models, confirming that the latest version of Grok will be made publicly available once it reaches maturity. Mr. Musk noted the process will take a few months.

Grok-3’s debut comes as AI competition intensifies and new players are introduced. On top of Sam Altman’s OpenAI, which runs the massively popular ChatGPT model, China’s DeepSeek AI has taken the industry by storm and has reignited competition.

Last week, Mr. Musk and allied investors launched an effort to purchase OpenAI’s nonprofit assets. The group offered $97.4 billion for the company, but OpenAI’s board and Mr. Altman rebuffed the offer.
