Elon Musk is coming to CPAC.
Matt Schlapp, leader of the Conservative Political Action Conference, and his wife, Mercedes, said at this week’s gathering of conservatives in National Harbor, Maryland, they would have a special guest who is “kind of like a tech type maybe, responsible for DOGE.”
“Elon Musk will be here on the CPAC stage,” Ms. Schlapp said Thursday.
The annual CPAC conference has evolved over the years from a celebration of the various wings of the conservative movement to more of a celebration of President Trump’s MAGA movement. The president is scheduled to conclude the event on Saturday.
Mr. Musk has become a cult hero in the eyes of the MAGA faithful after funneling $250 million into Mr. Trump’s campaign and opening the X social media platform to free speech after years of censorship imposed by liberals.
Now he’s a senior adviser to Mr. Trump, helping guide the Department of Government Efficiency toward rooting out waste, fraud and abuse from the federal bureaucracy.
