Elon Musk said he experienced “Trump Derangement Syndrome” at a party he went to before the election and compared it to people contracting rabies.

Mr. Musk and President Trump sat down for a joint interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that will air Tuesday evening. Mr. Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, said he used to be “adored” by left-leaning individuals until he started speaking out for Mr. Trump.

“There’s this whole sort of, you know, they call it like Trump Derangement Syndrome. You don’t realize how real this is until, like — it’s like you can’t reason with people,” Mr. Musk said.

He said he was at a birthday party in Los Angeles a month or two before the November election when he mentioned Mr. Trump’s name.

“It was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular that contained like methamphetamine and rabies,” he said, adding that they couldn’t have a normal conversation about the president.

“It’s like they become completely irrational,” he said.

In another released clip from the interview, the duo talked about how people are waiting for the “divorce” of Mr. Musk and Mr. Trump.

Democrats have accused Mr. Musk of taking over more power than he should have from Mr. Trump, saying the tech billionaire is now the president.

Mr. Trump said he’s seen it all.

“I think nobody in history has gotten more bad publicity than me,” Mr. Trump said.
