X owner Elon Musk has agreed to testify in a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into the billionaire’s purchase of Twitter in 2022.
According to court documents, Mr. Musk said he will testify on an undisclosed date and confirmed that he won’t challenge a court’s decision earlier this month to force him to testify.
His submission to the SEC’s subpoena ends a monthslong legal battle that began last October. At first, Mr. Musk cooperated with investigators, providing documents and answering questions. However, later in 2023, he accused the SEC of harassing him after it asked for follow-up interviews.
This month, a federal judge ordered Mr. Musk to testify before the commission.
The SEC probe concerns securities violations Mr. Musk may have made during his acquisition of Twitter in late 2022.
