Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene warned Friday that “earthquakes and eclipses” are signs from God that the country needs to repent for its sins.

“God is sending America strong signs to tell us to repent,” Mr. Greene, a Georgia Republican and evangelical Chrisitan, said on social media hours after a 4.8 magnitude earthquake rattled New York City. “Earthquakes and eclipses and many more things to come.”

“I pray that our country listens,” she said.

People across the country are hashing out plans to see the total eclipse next week. It is expected to be the last visible solar eclipse from the United States for 20 years and has generated a lot of excitement.
