New York State Troopers announced Friday that they were unable to find the bodies of Chaianti Means, 33, and her two children, who reportedly went over Niagara Falls intentionally earlier this week.
All three are presumed dead.
Means, a Niagara Falls, New York resident, and her children, Roman Rossman, 9, and 5-month-old Mecca Means crossed over a safety rail on Luna Island (attached to Goat Island) and proceeded to go over the falls at around 9 p.m. Monday, NYSP said in a release.
While the exact circumstances of the incident are still being investigated, NYSP believes Ms. Means took her children with her over the falls on purpose.
Officials attempted to locate the bodies using drones and members of the NYSP’s Marine Patrol and Underwater Recovery Unit but were unsuccessful. There is no threat to public safety, NYSP added.
