NextImg:‘Menstruators’: Biden’s administration’s workplace advice on menstruation doesn’t mention women

First there were “birthing people,” and now the Biden administration has added “menstruators” to the federal lexicon in its latest nod to the gender-identity movement.

The Labor Department posted tips online on how employers can make the workplace more “menstruation-friendly” without once mentioning women, using instead gender-neutral terms such as “menstruators” and “menstruating employees.”

“Menstruation is a natural part of half our population’s life, and yet it has been overlooked in the context of work—perhaps because it is seen as a personal issue or uncomfortable to discuss,” said the post on the department’s blog.

Which half of the population? The department doesn’t say.

The post timed to “Menstrual Hygiene Day” on May 28 assiduously avoids terms such as “woman” and “female,” an apparent bow to the gender-identity movement’s insistence that transmen — or women who identify as men — are men who also menstruate.

The department suggests providing “varied period products” — more commonly known as feminine hygiene products — to “ensure menstruators can access products privately.”

“Employers can make small adjustments to worker protections, flexibilities and accommodations to ensure that workplaces are more inclusive of menstruating employees, reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation and improve menstruators’ quality of life at work,” said the post.

There was just one reference to women. Credit for the write-up was given to Eleanor Delamater and Mathilde Roux, listed as policy analysts at “the Women’s Bureau,” an agency within the Labor Department.

Comments on social media included “Women. They are women,” and “Why does this post seem like there is confusion about who menstruates?”

The Biden administration does sometimes use the word “woman,” but it’s also mocked for employing euphemisms such as “birthing people” instead of “mothers,” as it did in its Fiscal Year 2022 budget.
